We packed up the bikes on Tuesday night and left Austin REALLY early to avoid traffic on the freeway getting out of town. We also took an alternate road past the downtown area, also to avoid the bumper to bumper traffic.
Before we left Texas, we made one last stop at a Western store to see if we could find a fringed jacket for Ed.
We all stopped for dinner in Salina, Kansas; Don and Roy also stopped for the night. Ed and I pressed on, to get closer to "half way" home. We ended up staying at a nice motel in York called the Yorkshire Inn and Suites. I got the very last room: HUGE with a king bed and even a sitting area in front of a large screen TV that I was too tired to make use of.
On Friday, Ed and I managed to make it to Fargo in plenty of time for him to pick up a bunch of stuff from the Indian dealer there. We stopped in Grand Forks to have dinner at the Texas Roadhouse. Just before the border, the tire on the trailer blew as I was driving. Ed, handy on the spot, fixed it with no problem and we were home in Winnipeg by 8:00 or 8:30 p.m.
